Local access is the starting point.

Belmont Blasters is rooted in access and community across Belmont and Redwood Shores. Our normal team guideline is no more than approximately 25% participation from outside Belmont and Redwood Shores.

Limited outside participation can help an age group field a viable team when local turnout is small. It can also preserve the bonds of teammates who have worked together for years. Those considerations support baseball in Belmont and Redwood Shores; they do not replace our commitment to local access.

Roster principleLocal access

Build viable teams. Honor real relationships.

Coaches and the board balance access for Belmont and Redwood Shores players with team viability and continuity for committed teammates. The parent FAQ explains how those factors are considered.

Little League in the Spring

Spring belongs to Little League.

Players may not miss spring BRSLL practices, games, playoffs, or All-Star commitments for Blasters activities.

Limited Blasters tryouts or activities may occur during spring, but they must yield to Little League. Blasters is designed to add a summer tournament experience to BRSLL, not compete with it or replace it.

Spring priority

Little League commitments set the calendar.

Any limited spring Blasters activity must be planned around BRSLL. The parent FAQ explains the rule in practical terms without relying on one team’s circumstances.

Why Blasters Uses USSSA Age

Classified for the teams we face.

The 2025 change followed years of debate after the Little League and USSSA age calendars diverged.

Blasters held to the Little League calendar for years. Ultimately, our summer teams compete against USSSA-classified opponents that draw players from across the region. Aligning our age groups with those opponents gave our teams a fairer competitive footing and responded to member needs. This tournament-classification decision does not alter our commitment to BRSLL.

Development, Safety, and Competition

Compete hard. Grow for the long run.

Blasters is competitive, but winning is not the sole measure of success.

We value age-appropriate instruction, physical and mental safety, meaningful development, sportsmanship, fun, and long-term player growth. Competition is part of the experience; character, confidence, and a lasting love of baseball are part of the outcome.
